The popular Horizon's Edge casino boat is prepared to dock in the city next week according to James Cowdell, executive director of the Economic Development & Industrial Corporation (EDIC).
Admitting he wasn't sure if the boat was actually returning for another season, Cowdell said he spoke to cruise officials last week and confirmed that it will.
"I hadn't heard from them in a while, but they came to visit me and told me that they're coming back," he said. "It's safe to say that the industry is being affected, but they have been very successful here in Lynn."
A tenant of EDIC, Horizon's Edge has left several times a day, seven days a week, from its dock off Marine Boulevard since 1999.
The Las Vegas-style casino cruise operation, the only one of its kind in the Boston area, features cards, poker, craps, roulette, over 225 slot machines, a buffet, and live entertainment.
The cruise ship can carry 500 passengers, plus crew.
After its summer and fall cruises in Lynn, the ship travels to Miami, Fla. to service customers during the winter months.
